THE strategic MAGIC OF STICK OR TWIST π
A BUSINESS GAME FOR ALL SEASONS
Who said strategy canβt be fun and games?
Coming back into my business after maternity leave has been quite the ride, the physical juggle of it all but also the quiet inside one. A total priority and perspective shift. Parts unknown. Parts outgrown. Which is even wilder when youβre a business of one and the very work you do all comes down to you.
Stick & Twist is something that has been fun and supportive while I re-shape what works looks like, in the future but most importantly what it needs to serve right now in a way that sets me up for whatβs next. Itβs all in the sequencing.
Letβs dive in.
PARTS OUTGROWN | WHEN EVERYTHING CHANGES
AS A BUSINESS OF ONE
I thought the motherhood identity shift was going to be chaotic and quick, not an ongoing saga, albeit one I'm grateful for, despite the slight side-eye madness. A reality of outgrowing parts of ourselves, which big life changes are there to do, hey. But, and it's a big but, all of this is an extra special kind of majestic f*ckery when you are what you do. And all that searching and meaning making spills into your business too.
You start this thing, and outside of the doing, life happens, in all the sublime, the brilliant and devastating splendour of it all. You lose, you learn, you are needed elsewhere. And when you're able to come up for air, you're a whole other version of you, with a business that doesn't quite fit in the ways it used to. Considering how often I've sat with some of you in this exact place, it's not something I see talked about a whole lot. The labour of carrying it all, but also the magic of starting anew.
Somewhere inside my months in the pendulum swing of this ainβt it, maybe this is, I got it, I donβt know anymore, I knew there were some big things I wanted to change. There were parts of my work I wanted to chuck in the bin, and others I found a deep new respect for. What felt meaningful was totally turned upside down. And then I found it. My next. The thing I want to move towards is a good few hundred steps ahead of where I am right now.
So here I am in the gap, the very place I LOVE supporting my clients through. Catching up their now to make way for their next. So fresh from the Growth Mapping playbook, hereβs Stick or Twist. A journal-style progress prompt session if youβre stuck, lost, or in a bit of a stop-gap, hereβs to finding your wary through.

Stick or Twist. What stays, what gets turned up/down, what need to evolve?
NB: Sticking doesn't mean forever, just a season.Reimagining the sucky parts. Aka making it more meaningful. Does your offering need to change, should you switch who youβre serving so it connects deeper with your experiences and who you want to help. Do you need more support, structure or systems in place to free you up? The answers are there when we give ourselves time to look.
